I received this appointment in the mail on January 3rd and have no idea what what or why it was made.  Time will tell but, just after this appointment I will go in for surgery on my upper left arm for a small cancer spot.  Well it has been rescheduled for the ninth, from the eight.  The nurse said Dr. Maas asked for it plus the use of contrast for the testing of my chest for the eye problems.  Seems strange to me!

Well no eating for at least four hours plus so I didn't eat anything since nine P.M. last night.  I took the bus and got there about 35 minutes early as they said I should.  Appointment was at 1:30 and the nurse took me into the examining room about 1:15!  She had me fill out an approval form and then proceeded to put in an I.V. for later use when they injected the dye.

Then into the C T room and the nurse had me lie down and took my pulse.  It was 61 beats a minute.  She couldn't take my blood pressure as my left arm was bandaged from the cancer surgery the day before!  And I had the IV in the right arm so no place to take the blood pressure.  I said the last time it was 120 over 77 and she and the C T Scan technician said it was probable even lower if my pulse was 61!   They had me pull my pants down around my knees after I laid down and said the scan was to take pictures from the neck to the groin area to check the internal organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys and so on.   There were two scans of my body that took about five minutes.  Then the nurse came in and said they would inject the dye for contrast and I would feel a hot flash and if I had any pain, to count to three and if still in pain, to tell them and they would stop the procedure.  Well I felt a hot flash and then nothing - no pain.    I held my breath and the scanner did one sweep for about five seconds and that was it!   The nurse and technician said the slices of scans were perfect and I was to drink six to eight glasses of water today to get the dye out of my kidneys!

I was out of the hospital by 1:45 P.M. and on the bus by 1:48 P.M. and home by 2:30!   So another test down, next week the optometrist at the V. A. Hospital on Tuesday and on Thursday, the Professor of Optometry at the University of California Medical Center.
