This is a new research project with the client traversing differing types of walking and running on a treadmill to determine the blood pressure and ability for the age to complete the tests. Time will tell! Scheduled test time is Two P.M. at the General Hospital. I got there around one P.M. and they set up the testing by having me lie down and taking my blood pressure on the arms and ankles. Then they tested the elasticity of the blood vessels and said they seemed fine. Then they tested the pulse and strength and measured from one spot to another, such as from the neck to the groin area and then calculating the pressure put on the veins. And last, they wired me for an EKG and had me walk on a treadmill. They wanted my heart rate to hit at least 136 and I started to walk and they said, every there minutes the treadmill would go faster and the rate of climb would be higher. After 15 minutes the speed was 3.5 miles an hour and the incline was at 12 Percent! They redid the blood pressure as soon as I got off the treadmill and finally, reviewed the printout of the electrocardiogram of my heart. The good news was my heart looked to be in fine shape and nothing pointed to problems with it! She said just keep doing what I am doing, exercise and eating right! |
