E-mails from Holland!

The following four e-mails came from Holland after I wrote to the original address and the current resident - Valerie Ridder, read my letter and replied that the Everlo family did not live there any more.  She was kind enough to do a search on the Netherlands web pages and came up with the name of Pauline Everlo and an e-mail address!  I wrote to Pauline and she responded and then her father, Frans, wrote to me.  Hopefully we can meet while I am in Holland visiting the Hague area on my Uniworld cruise during the Tulip Festival!  Read on!

Message from Valerie Ridder, current residence at the old address - March 21st, 2004.

Dear Mr. Buntjer
Last week we received your letter concerning Frans Slot tot Everlo. I’m afraid I must disappoint you, he does not live here (anymore). But I did some research on the (Dutch) Internet and found out that the family you’re looking for is probably “Sloet tot Everlo” instead of “Slot tot Everlo”. As far as I can tell the Sloet tot Everlo family is a known noble family in Holland. I could not find any Sloet tot Everlo in The Hague, but through the Internet I found two names that could possibly help you trace Frans. Perhaps they are related to your old friend.

The first is Pauline Sloet tot Everlo; see http://www.c3.nl/c3-achtergrond.htm and the second is Lisette Sloet tot Everlo who works for Cirque du Soleil. Her phone number is 0031203550256, assuming the Internet information is still correct. I hope you will be able to get in touch with (relatives of) Frans Sloet tot Everlo. Good luck and a pleasant stay in Holland!

Kind regards,

Valérie de Ridder

Second Message from Frans Sloet tot Everlo - March 23rd, 2004!

Dear Charles!!!

I just received an email from my eldest daughter Pauline which was very interesting! She phoned me also to tell the story!   I will send you more information later on, but do know that I - and my wife Yvonne - should like to meet you at your trip to Holland in April. I just downloaded your itinerary..

Well I'm now 65 years and just retired from my job as a civil servant at the government of the Province of South Holland.  My father died in 1960 and mother in 1972. I married Yvonne in 1974 and we have three children: Pauline (1975),who is a chemist at an organization, Karin (1976), who is a veterinarian, and Frans (1978) who is a corporal-1 and serves in the army "luchtmobiele brigade" = redberet-commando and was in Afghanistan two times.

Please excuse me now for ending this message. But let me know when it would be convenient for you to meet again!   (note the spelling fault my son made creating his address that is now mine!)

My home address is not far from my original parents home; it's a village near to it. (Rijswijk)

See You!

Third Message from Frans Sloet tot Everlo - March 24th, 2004!

A long letter from Frans in Word responding to my letter from 51 years ago!  I had to laugh as he said that they do have electric lights but the house is very old and still has the gas pipes in the walls  His son is a sharp shooter like I was in the military and Frans and his family hope to see me when I am in Delft as he said they live near by.  So it should be nice to see them when I visit Holland!
