YMCA New Years Senior Party ~ 01.01.2012

Every year we host a luncheon for seniors in the Tenderloin.  We usually have about 250 plus 50 or more volunteers to help feed the crowd.  The last few days before the party, Trish, myself and a few others spent the days setting up the party favors for 30 tables and 250 guests plus washing fruit and other items that need to be clean to be put in goodie bags to be given to the guests as they leave the party.   All this of course is managed by Greg, our Senior Center Director!  We also will have two bands and an Asian dance and song group to entertain the guests.   All in all a good way to start out the 2012 New Year!

January 1st, 2012 view from my apartment on the 28th floor in San Francisco, the temperature was mid 60s!

The buildings on the hill on the left is the Mark Hopkins and the Fairmont.   The tall black building is 52 stories high and used to be the Band of America but has been sold since the headquarters has moved to the south.   The tall 40 story silver building in front of it is the Hilton Tower with a fantastic restaurant on the top with views all over the bay.  Just behind it is the Hyatt on Union Square.  The main street is Market Street and to the right is the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge and on the far right is the 60 story One Rincon Hill condominium.   The building on the lower right with the strange dark roof is the new Federal Building, one of the new earthquake proof buildings.

Chuck and Greg - Who is in charge?

We worked like mad to get the table settings just right!

They washed 267 pears and also taste tested them!

Trish and a bad box move with oranges - Bad Girl!

Looked like a coolie carrying his goods!

Individual place settings for each table.

Volunteers to take care of 250 guests!

Gay Lesbian Band and Lots of Dancing!  The three venues by the bands and the Asian Chorus donated their time to give the seniors a happy day!

Chuck and his neighbors Trish and Gary!

Another year another dollar!

The Lesbian Jazz Band was acting up when I took this photo!

The San Francisco Asian Chorus, 30 people in the group!

And the Asian Chorus also danced for us!

A great time was had by all!

Poor Greg, the Senior Center Director was worn out!
